Previous Part
Spike drove slowly through the street of Sunnydale, more than a little annoyed with himself. He had wandered the halls of Sunnydale High, debated about taking the boy home with him. He knew it was a bad idea. Angelus would most likely take interest in the former Scooby, breaking the boy would be a true joy for the master vampire, and Spike knew all too well the damage the sadistic vampire could do.
But the boy had been a gift from his sire, even if it was a ploy by the soul to trick Spike. A gift was gift. Maybe he could use that to keep his sire from touching the boy. Plus he felt pulled to the boy, a kind of kindred spirit. The blond vampire figured the boy had enough spirit left in him to keep him entertained. But was it enough?
He'd gone to the demons running the slave yard and they tried their best to talk Spike out of taking Xander. That in and of itself made the vampire more determined to have this boy. They told Spike that he was resentful and disobedient. He'd bitten several of his handlers and had been returned by every owner who had taken possession of him.
Spike never gave up his toys and didn't intend to start now.
They explained that the boy had refused to eat, except from the werewolf's hand. It turns out that drugs and poison were used to ensure the resistant slave's compliance and he wouldn't trust anything that wasn't at least mostly human.
Spike was sure he could change the boy's mind. He'd get the boy to eat – and like it.
As he drove along, he ignored the boy who lay across his backseat, chained and obviously not happy. Spike any caught a few phrases as the boy complained like "Stupid bleached vamp" and "Just like all the rest". Smirking, Spike did his best to hold in his laughter. The boy was so wrong about that. Spike was so far from the rest. He couldn't wait to show him.
Pulling up in front of the mansion, Spike stopped his car and quickly stepped out, leaving the vehicle running. He growled at the minion that ran up to jump in the driver's seat.
"Be careful with her, she's a classic, you know?" He waited until the youngling nodded before moving to the back door. "And wait a minute, I have to get my new prezzie out of the back."
Spike reached in and deftly lifted the boy. The vampire had been feeding well and the boy obviously had not and Spike soon had the boy standing next to him facing the mansion. Looking up at the rapidly lightening sky, Spike began to walk toward his home, pulling lightly on the chains surrounding the boy. He turned back quickly and looked at the boy, annoyance written on every feature.
But what he saw shocked him to his core.
"Xander?" Spike whispered, speaking the boy's name for the first time.
The boy stood frozen, staring up at the imposing mansion, his eyes wide and wild with panic.
"No," Xander whispered, nearly too quiet for even the vampire to hear. "I can't. I can't. Please don't, Spike. Don't make me. I can't."
Spike quickly sidled up to the trembling boy. They had to get inside and soon. The dawn was about to break and Spike hated cutting things short like this. Rubbing his hands soothingly over the soft cotton covering Xander's warm skin, Spike began to purr as he talked.
"It's alright, pet. Nothing to worry about. Spike's got ya'. You're my boy and no one's going to hurt you."
Xander began to shake his head, refusing to move from the spot on the lawn. "I can't," he whimpered, his eyes now darting back and forth in fear. "I can't go in there."
Suddenly, Spike understood.
"You saw here, didn't you, pet? You saw the Slayer, after Angelus was through with her."
Xander's voice was quiet and pitiful. "He wasn't quite done with her."
Gently, Spike continued to pet the trembling boy. "Xander," he whispered, light and low. "We have to go inside, pretty. The sun is coming. I'll keep you safe. I've got you now. Trust me, pet. Please."
The sable haired head nodded, nearly imperceptivity, and Spike practically dragged the boy into the mansion, just as dawns rays broke over the city.
Once inside, the blond vampire tried to steer his newest acquisition up the stairs before they could be noticed. But before they hit the first stair, a voice called out from the throne room.
"Spike," the amused baritone rang out throughout the mansion. "It took you long enough. What is this? No, "Daddy! I'm home!!"? Come in here and let's see what you picked out."
Spike looked at the boy at his side. Sad hazel eyes begged him not to answer, not to listen, but Spike knew he couldn't say no, couldn't disobey. Slowly, he reached over and took the boy's bound hands. Squeezing them lightly in reassurance, the vampire began to pull the terrified boy into the main room.
They were no more than three steps in the large room when the laughter began to ring out. Angelus crowed and laughed, thoroughly enjoying the good fortune smiling down him. Finally, the master vampire motioned his childe closer. Spike slowly moved toward Angelus, carefully steering the boy away from the sword in the stone.
"By hell, above and below, Spike, what have you brought home? And I thought all the Scoobies were gone. Let me look at you, boy. This – this is going to be fun."
Xander stood frozen behind his the blond vampire. Spike coaxed the boy out, whispering reassurances all the while. Angelus stood from his mighty throne, stalking toward the frightened boy. Circling and sniffing, the dark vampire purred lightly as he spoke softly.
"Well, look at you. The White Knight. I thought for sure you were dead, probably trying to save some poor soul who didn't even know your name." The vampire stopped behind the boy, leaning in heavily. "Xander," he purred. "I am going to love breaking you, boy."
Spike quickly stepped up and pulled the boy away from his sire. "He's mine," Spike growled low in his throat.
Angelus simply chuckled. "Don't push me, Spike. I'd hate to have to claim Sire's rights over your new boy."
Pulling the human behind him, Spike silently stalked up the stairs and toward his room.
Once they were behind closed doors, they both sighed, Spike falling heavily on the bed.
"What was that?" Xander asked.
"What was what, pet?"
"Sire's rights."
Spike's eyes turned cold as he looked at the tethered boy watching him so intently. "Sire's rights in an old rule in our order. It means he gets a shot at anything of mine. You're mine..."
"So he gets a shot at me."
Both men looked miserable as they stared at each other. Finally, Spike whispered, "Come on, pet. Let's get some sleep."
Xander stood frozen, staring at him. The blond vampire pulled out the key to his boy's chains. The hazel eyes brightened as the boy shuffled over to the bed. Spike quickly unlocked the restraints before dropping them all in a heap on the floor. Efficiently, the vampire stripped his boy before undressing himself. Pulling back the covers, Spike motioned for the boy to climb in. When Xander refused to move, the blond vampire simply shrugged and climbed in without him.
Spike waited, wondering what the boy would do. He closed his eyes, feigning sleep for several long moments until he finally felt the covers lift and the bed depress under his boy's weight. Once the boy settled, Spike pulled him close. When Xander started to fight, Spike simply purred and whispered, "Just want a bit of warmth, pet. Settle down and let's get some sleep."
Xander nodded and before he knew it, they were both fast asleep.
Waking to a warm body in his bed was an odd feeling. One that Spike was sure he wasn't willing to part with easily. The vampire stretched, enjoying the feeling of warm skin against his own and the soothing sound of the boy's heartbeat.
Spike stood and smiled down at the boy surrounded by covers in the oversized bed. He pulled on his jeans, leaving them open as he walked toward the door. Sticking his head out, Spike signaled for one of the minions. After giving his commands, the blond vampire turned back toward the bed, surprised at the boy watching him.
"Why?" Xander asked quietly.
"Why what?"
"Why are you being so nice to me? You haven't tried anything, haven't bitten me, haven't…you know. It's kinda starting to wig me out."
Spike chuckled lightly as he flopped down on the bed, stretching his hands high above his head. "Oh, we'll get to that, pet, not to worry. But I tend to do things a little different. I don't like to do the whole torture and rape thing like my sire."
"Watcher's journals say differently."
"Not surprised."
Their conversation was interrupted by a cowering minion bearing a large plate of food. Spike motioned the vampire closer, sitting up to take the tray in his lap. Spike shooed the youngling away with a flick of his hand and began to concentrate on the boy in his bed.
Scooping up some of the food in his hand, Spike offered the meal to the boy. Xander looked at the vampire, confusion written all over his face, before he leaned forward to lick at the offered palm.
"I'm bored, Xander," Spike explained as he continued to feed his boy. "I hate this new world and all its trappings. Angelus may revel in this type of control but I find it boring, hardly worth the fight. I want things the way they were. I want..."
"You want a life."
Spike smiled. They understood each other. It was more than he'd had in a long time. The blond vampire sat with the boy for a long while, feeding him, talking to him, petting him. This boy, this human, finally made him feel that his unlife was worth something again.
"Pet," Spike warned quietly as he slipped on the remainder of his outfit. "You have to stay in this room while I'm gone. I have to feed. I spent so much time at the school yesterday with you that I never fed. I don't want Angelus near you but I don't trust any of the minions to watch over you. So stay in and stay quiet."
Xander nodded slowly in understanding.
Before he closed the door, Spike heard his name quietly called. When he looked back in the room, Xander smiled and whispered, "I still hate you."
Spike chuckled and returned the smile. "Same goes, pet, same goes."
Spike hated the new hunting grounds. The offerings were paltry and the hunt was boring. But he was well fed and ready to spend some more time with his boy. As soon as he entered the mansion, Spike knew something was wrong. It was too quiet, too calm to be part of Angelus' reign.
His heart in his throat, Spike took the stairs two at a time, insistent that he find his boy, make sure he was alright.
The heavy wooden door of his room banged loudly on the wall, but Spike never heard it. He stood frozen at the sight before him.
Angelus was on his bed. On his bed with his boy.
Xander lay on his stomach, arms and legs tied tightly to the bedposts with Spike's ruined sheets.
Despite his revulsion at the scene before him, Spike was amazed at his boy. Xander never screamed, never begged. He lay, whimpering lightly, tears streaming down his face as the master vampire thrust into his body mercilessly.
Seeing his childe, Angelus laughed mirthlessly. He smacked Xander harshly, pulling a whimper from the boy's rare throat.
"Spike," Angelus greeted roughly. "I should have known you wouldn't take to boy to task like you should. A White Hat like this really needs to shown his place. And this is your place, isn't it boy? You need to be under someone. Someone like me."
Blue and hazel eyes locked and Spike could see the fear hiding behind the unshed tears in the boy's eyes. He was not going to live like this and neither was Xander. They were not going to survive under Angelus' thumb.
Spike stood stock-still as his sire violated his boy. It was painful to watch, probably more painful to endure. He should have known, should not have trusted his sire. He ached to run, to hide, to shut this world out, but Angelus continued to pull him back with his words and grunts and moans.
Finally, Angelus began to thrust wildly, growling out his orgasm before darting down to bite the boy's tender flesh. But before his fangs could pierce flesh, Spike was there, stopping him.
"He's mine," Spike growled in warning. "I'll mark him, not you."
Angelus looked up with a smile. "Finally growing some balls, hey Spike? Good for you. About time."
The blond vampire watched as Angelus roughly pulled out of his boy, spreading blood and semen over the ruined bedclothes. A large hand slapped his shoulder painfully before the naked vampire strode toward the door. "Let me know next time before you go out, Spike. I'd hate for Xander to think the family is going to ignore him."
The laughter followed the master vampire out the door. Looking at the boy, Spike heart broke for weeping human.
"I did..." Xander cried brokenly. "I did what you said but he came. He knew I was here. He came in and..."
"I know," Spike whispered, slowly stroking the boy's back. The blond vampire moved to untie the bonds and gently massaged the red, worn skin beneath. Xander whimpered quietly and let Spike do what was necessary. Once his boy was free, Spike deftly lifted the boy and carried him to the bathroom. He stood in the shower, still fully clothed as he gently cleaned the boy beneath the warm water's spray.
His hands were gentle and tender and Xander responded to the touches. Arching against the soft ministrations, the boy asked quietly, "He did this to you, didn't he? That's why you were scared, wasn't it?"
The blond head bobbed as Spike silently confessed. "More times than I could count, pet."
"What are we going to do?"
Spike smiled, before leaning in for a soft gentle kiss. It was tender and achingly needy. They both wanted more, needed it, but now was not the time. A manic glee spread of the blond vampire's face. "We're going to find ourselves a brave new world, Xan."
Spike had waited until he was sure that Angelus and Drusilla were asleep for the day. He hated leaving her, but she would only pull him back to Angelus, just like she had the last time. He couldn't leave this way, not for another day.
He packed the car, making sure all the windows were blacked out and they had plenty of supplies to drive all day.
Xander lay in the front seat, still too sore to sit for any length of time. The vampire ran for the driver's seat, a blanket firmly over his head. Xander laughed lightly at the sight of the smoldering vampire. Spike settled himself and threw the car into gear and pulled out, scattering pebbles and dust all over the lawn of the mansion. Laughing at his actions, Spike turned his music on loud and sped out of town.
With the boy's sable-colored head resting firmly in his lap, Spike drove, singing along with the radio. Absentmindedly, the vampire carded his fingers through the boy's soft locks as he drove. After nearly an hour, his boy quietly asked, "Where are we going?"
"I thought we'd take a little drive, pet," Spike explained as small smile gracing his features. "It seems the demons from Acathla's dimension don't like cold weather. A lot of them are heading toward Mexico, but from Angelus says, they haven't spread any farther north than central Oregon. I'm thinking Canada might be nice. Or Alaska. Ever wanted to see the Northern Lights, pet?"
Xander chuckled and snuggled into Spike's lap.
The blond vampire sighed and set his sights on I-5 North. It was going to be a long trip but he was tired of this hell on earth. It was time to see if maybe he and Xander could find a little piece of heaven.
